When Pep Guardiola was preparing for the challenge of taking on Jürgen Klopp’s peak Liverpool team at Anfield in February 2021, training that week at Manchester City was a little different, according to Oleksandr Zinchenko. Guardiola’s instructions seemed counterintuitive. “Guys, let’s start from the goal-kick, I want you to make at least three or four touches on the ball,” the manager told them. “Most of the teams come to Anfield and shit themselves. They want to play one touch, two touch. ‘Oh, don’t give me the ball! Oh you take it!’ But you have to play with big balls at Anfield! Big balls! ‘Give me the ball!’ Demand it! If you need to dribble past two or three players, do it. But play football. I want you to play football.”

Zinchenko recalls that Guardiola made the same speech before they walked out at Anfield. “Teams coming here are scared. They play one or two touches, and that’s what Liverpool like, because they get the ball back so quickly. I want you to be brave. Play your football!” as Zinchenko puts it in his autobiography, Believe. Admittedly that game came in the midst of City’s record-breaking 21-game winning run that season but was also Guardiola’s first win at Anfield, so not dissimilar to the title showdown at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday with Arsenal.

Dolphins among teams who met with All-American NFL draft prospect

The Miami Dolphins are set to enter the season with Patrick Paul as their starting left tackle and Austin Jackson starting on the right side, as they did last year, but the 2026 NFL draft could change that.

With Jackson's contract set to expire after the season, Miami has shown some interest in some of the top offensive tackle prospects in this year's draft, including Alabama's Kadyn Proctor, whom the team has spent time with.

Proctor, 20, was a five-star recruit and the top offensive lineman in his recruiting class coming out of Southeast Polk High School in Pleasant Hill, Iowa. He committed to Alabama in 2022.

With the Crimson Tide, Proctor started 39 games at left tackle, earning All-SEC honors twice and All-American honors once. He was also named the best blocker in the SEC in 2025.

Many believe the Proctor will switch to right tackle or guard in the NFL. This could allow the Dolphins to take him with one of their first-round picks, start him at guard for a year and kick him out to tackle for 2027 when Jackson is gone. They could also just trade Jackson now and secure their draft compensation for 2027.

Either way, Miami needs to make sure they're protecting Malik Willis and giving him weapons to target in the passing game. Taking Proctor would at least help them accomplish one of those goals.

IPL 2026: In-form Shreyas Iyer eyes big batting milestone as PBKS face LSG

Shreyas Iyer is 66 runs away from reaching 4,000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL), with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain likely to achieve the mark in the upcoming match in IPL 2026 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Mullanpur on Sunday.

In 138 matches and 136 innings, Iyer has scored 3,934 runs at an average of 35.12 and a strike rate of 135.37, including 30 fifties, with a highest score of 97 not out.

This season, he has scored 203 runs in four innings at an average of 67.66 and a strike rate of 187.96, with three fifties and a top score of 69 not out.

For Punjab Kings, he has made 807 runs in 22 matches and 21 innings at an average of 53.80 and a strike rate of 178.14, with nine fifties and a best of 97.

Virat Kohli is the highest run-scorer in IPL history, with 8908 runs in 265 innings at a strike rate of 133.43.

Punjab Kings, who are at the top of the table, will rely on their batting when they face Lucknow Super Giants. PBKS are the only unbeaten team so far, with four wins from five matches, while one match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was washed out. They have a net run rate of +1.067.

The side has won nine of their last 11 matches while chasing since the 2025 season, including a recent win over Mumbai Indians.

Lucknow, currently seventh in the points table, are reeling from back-to-back losses, but the return of Pant in Sunday's match will be a relief for them. The LSG skipper had suffered an elbow injury in their previous match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
